The Area
York, settled in 1641, was the first chartered English city in North America. The historical museum buildings are spread throughout York village. Some include the old goal, Jefferd’s Tavern and the Old School House. The area is home to some of the finest artist colonies. Artists and artisans still abound the many galleries open to the public.
The York area consists of four unique areas York Village, York Harbor, York Beach and Cape Neddick.
